Links with Health & Social Care Services

We work strategically across Bolton to raise awareness of carers’ needs with health and social care professionals, encouraging them to think about the unpaid carers they support. Professionals can also contact our helpline on 01204 363056 for information and advice about any aspect of caring to help them best support their clients.

We also…

Respond to consultation documents and attend meetings to ensure that carers’ issues are kept on agendas

Encourage carers to contact their GP practice to register as a carer, enabling them to access their free annual health check

Encourage carers to self-refer to us for continued support and signposting to other services

Continue where possible to share resources on request with health organisations

Support key campaigns such as Carers Week and Carers Rights Day

Raising Awareness

Carers UK have said it can take people up to five years to recognise themselves as carers so we raise awareness and encourage people to identify themselves as carers as early as possible.

 To raise awareness we:

Give talks and presentations to voluntary sector, community and faith groups, social work teams and local services

Promote our services through publicity including articles in newsletters, press releases and radio interviews

Hold information displays at events and meetings, in supermarkets and community venues.
